The 33-year-old, who rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex, became the first every celebrity bombshell to enter the villa of Love Island. His appearance left fans of the show reeling.

Maya Jama was there to welcome the Islanders into the villa, with her revealing the first twist of the series. The contestants were asked to rank the opposite sex on who they thought was most boyfriend or girlfriend material, and who wasn't. It was then that Maya revealed they had coupled themselves up - with the most boyfriend material and most girlfriend material being paired together, and the least boyfriend and the least girlfriend material Islanders being coupled up too.

A source told The Sun: "The islanders were all in shock when it happened. They thought Joey coming in was the only twist.

"Nobody was expecting a dumping to happen so soon. The dumped star was gutted they hardly got to spend any time in the villa and feels like they've been cheated of the whole experience.

"There were tears around the firepit. The islanders haven't known each other long but this has sent them reeling. It shows that bosses aren't messing around this series and they need to expect the unexpected."

Joey revealed in a pre-show interview that he had not been approached for the show and had instead signed up himself. He revealed the extreme lengths he had to go to to be able to hide himself and keep his villa entry a big secret.

He warned that the 'King of Essex' was ready to find love, and said he was ready to steal one of the guys' girls - but who will he choose, and who will he send packing after less than a day in the villa?
