Love Island’s Marcel has admitted to giving fellow contestant Kem Cetinay a bit of helping hand with writing his raps on the show, saying he wrote the 'majority' of the 21-year-old's lyrics.

This year’s series of the ITV2 dating programme saw Cetinay launch his rap career alongside friend Chris Hughes, with several performances in the villa including song of the summer (Little Bit) Leave It.

Somerville, a former member of Noughties grime group Blazin’ Squad, assisted the boys with production.

But speaking at a round-table interview, the 31-year-old revealed he’d even some written some of Cetinay’s bars for him.

When asked if he believes the boys have talent, Somerville replied: “To tell you the truth I did actually write Kem’s lyrics for that song, the majority of them. There was a few that he done, I’ll let him have it.”

The Essex lad might want to work on his lyrical prowess before he and Hughes meet fan of the show Stormzy. As after appearing on the show to give the budding musicians some advice, the rapper hinted at a possible collaboration track.

Meanwhile Somerville promised that he, Kem and Chris (a.k.a Run KMC) would be releasing music in the near future.

“I don’t know if you heard our song Leave It? That’s obviously going to be the first track on the EP,” he confirmed.

“These boys have got so hyped off the situation, but once we get some time we can go to the studio and we’ll just bang out four or five tunes.”

Love Island returns to ITV2 in summer 2018.
