Not long after they were unceremoniously booted off the show, Love Island stars Jess and Dom were rumoured to have hooked up.

While no-one seems to know if it's true or not, it didn't stop friends and family of the Islanders telling the contestants via Skype.

First, Gabby's mum Paula told her about the rumours, which Marcel's Blazin' Squad bandmates (did you know he was in Blazin' Squad, by the way?) then followed up on.

After, Gabby and Marcel discussed whether they should tell Dom what they'd heard or not, with Gabby saying that if it's true, Dom is "holding out for someone and missing out on opportunities".

"We have to speak to him first before anyone else," she added.

In the end, it was Marcel who told Dom the rumours, saying that he needed to know so he wouldn't look like an idiot, and he stressed that they are just rumours at the moment.

"Mate, swear down that was so mad," Marcel told Dom. "There was so much information to take on. I've got to tell you something.

"Gabs had her call first and her mum was like 'Dom needs to give Tyla a chance because there's stories going around that when Jess and Mike got out, things went down' but I didn't know how true it was so when I went in for my call with my boys they said 'there's a story circulating'.

"They can't confirm whether it's true or not but there's no smoke without fire, there must have been something."

Upon hearing the news, Dom stormed out of the villa to be alone.

Later, in the Beach Hut, Dom said: "I know I was real. I was true to her and I thought it was special. If she's done what she's done, it clearly wasn't as special to her.

Related: Dumped Islander Tyne-Lexy believed that Jess and Dom were fake.

"So I've decided rather than worry about it, I will cross the bridge when it comes to it when I get out of here.

"But it's Love Island and I'm going to enjoy myself and embrace the opportunity I've got and thank myself lucky for still being here."

Since she left, Jess has RT'd lots of messages from fans saying they don't believe she slept with Mike, and added that she will be appearing on Aftersun at 10pm tonight alongside Mike to address the rumours herself.

"Literally so much love for all of you guys who have my back," she wrote. "Tune into @itv2 on Sunday #loveislandaftersun to hear my views on everything."

"Can't wait to fill you all in on what has really happened since I left the villa," she added later.

Speaking to Digital Spy following her exit, Jess said she told Dom not to leave the show with her.

"I just want him to be happy because he's so incredible," she said.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2, with Love Island: Aftersun airing immediately afterwards.
