Love Island fans break out the memes as they watch Dr Alex flirt

Love Island fans were left expressing their cringe through memes as they watched Dr Alex George try and charm the new arrivals.

Essex girl Zara made an impression on the dishy doctor as she bounded into the villa during Sunday night’s episode, even admitting that she fancies him.

But, while the whole nation was behind Alex and rooting for him to find love, viewers couldn’t help but question his flirting technique, including killer lines “I like cars” and “I iron”.

One wrote: “Alex's chat up lines tonight were what I am like on a date. 'I used to sell cars' , oh, 'I love cars' #loveisland

Others were likening his tactic to famous film scenes, including the “I love lamp” scene in Anchorman and Damien in Mean Girls.

In scenes to be shown during Monday night’s episode, Alex dates both of the new girls and is especially showered with compliments by government advisor Zara.

She told him: “I find you endearing. Within two minutes of speaking to you, I knew there was a side to you that either no one had brought out yet or we just haven’t seen.

“You came in here and you had such a rocky start and now you’ve just hit the jackpot, you’ve got two girls who are interested.”

Alex replied: “I feel like it was such a confidence knock [at the beginning]…

“I’m glad you’ve taken me on a date and I’d quite like to get to know you more and see what happens.”
