Love Island fans react to Stormzy song thought to be about Maya Jama playing in show
Love Island and Stormzy have had a long history, with the rapper even appearing on the show via video call all the way back in 2017. So it should be no surprise to anyone that his music is played on the show from time to time. However, last night Love Island viewers were in shock after a Stormzy song, believed to be about Maya Jama, his ex-girlfriend and new host of Love Island, was played on the show.
To recap: Maya Jama and Stormzy dated for four years, before breaking up in 2019. Following their breakup, Stormzy released a number of songs many fans believe are about Maya, including 'Hide & Seek' which was featured on last night's episode (18th January) of Love Island, which Maya is now the host of.
The song 'Hide & Seek', which features the lyric "Oh, girl, you’re shining. You know you’re my diamond", played whilst Ron and Tanya were on their dates with bombshells Zara and David.
Viewers were stunned to hear the song play, with one person asking: "Did they let Maya know they're playing Stormzy’s song on her show?"
Another said: "Not them playing one of Stormzy's love songs to Maya right now knowing she's the host and watching."
And another said: "THEY ARE NOT PLAYING STORMZY RN NOT THE SONG HE MADE FOR MAYA ON HER SHOW SURELY NOT."
Did they let Maya know they're playing Stormzy’s song on her show? #LoveIsland

Maya Jama was announced as the new host of Love Island at the end of last year, after Laura Whitmore stepped down from the role after three seasons.
She made her debut appearance on the show during the premiere episode on Monday night (16th January), where she welcomed the Islanders to the villa and conducted the first coupling up ceremony. Maya then appeared later in the episode, to bring the Islanders the surprise news that the first bombshell of the season was arriving.
Following her first appearance many viewers congratulated her on her presenting role, with some saying she was "made for the role".
We can't wait to see more of Maya on Love Island.
