Love Island fans have a theory about Hayley Hughes' behaviour

Love Island viewers have accused Hayley Hughes of acting dumb after saying impossibly stupid things about Brexit during the show's Christmas reunion special.

During her time in the villa, Hughes admitted that she didn't know what Brexit was, and it seems she hasn't learnt much about it since, despite meeting with pub dweller and former UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

Speaking to Kendall Rae-Knight, she said: "All I know is we're not going to be part of the EU. It's not happening anytime soon so we don't need to worry about it."

Hughes revealed that she knows what 'UK' stands for, but she's not so sure about 'EU'.

"I know UK stands for United Kingdom... EU... erm... Espagne, maybe?" she said.

Viewers weren't convinced that her ignorance was genuine, however, with many taking to Twitter to claim she was faking it.

One person tweeted: "You're telling me Hayley managed to fill in an application form for Love Island, managed to get on a plane and back and met Nigel Farage but has only just worked out what 'UK' stands for? Hun pls you are noooot funny just irritating."

While another wrote: "Hayley can’t look into the camera coz she knows she’s acting LOL. Why would you pretend to be unintelligent for attention? "
