Love Island star Grace Jackson has shared an update on her relationship with Joey Essex, saying there is “no awkwardness.”

The pair appeared in the 11th series of the reality show earlier this year, with their previous relationship brought to light upon their reunion.

Things didn’t pan out successfully, however, with the duo often clashing as they sought connections with Reuben Collins and Jessy Potts, respectively.

Each of the pair’s respective relationships have since ended, leading to speculation that Grace and Joey could reunite once more, but the former revealed to Closer that a rekindling isn’t close to happening even though they are on good terms.

“We don't really have much to speak about,” she began. “Once you go back into your real life, there's no need to kind of drag out that animosity, what went on in there can stay in the villa. We both just said, ‘Let's leave it at that. There's no awkwardness, and we're all a very tight-knit group.”

Grace, who departed the villa alongside Reuben on Day 52, spoke further about her experience on the reality show, sharing that she has maintained friendships with three of her co-stars since the conclusion of the series.

“I'm really, really close with Harriett [Blackmore], Uma [Jammeh] and Matilda [Draper] – I speak to them literally every single day. That was one of the things I went in thinking – having an argument with a man, I'm like, ‘Oh, I don't care about that’,

“But the last thing I wanted to do was argue with any of the girls. It's so cliché, but I am a proper girls’ girl. I didn't have any arguments or any drama with any of the girls. Everyone as a group was really close, so it was nice not to have arguments. There's enough of that with the men.”

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
