Love Island has been hit with nearly 700 complaints in just over a week.

With brand new host Laura Whitmore, and a stunning line-up, the new ITV2 show was set to be dramatic.

However, since the first episode of the brand new winter edition launched on January 12, viewers have complained about multiple scenes in the dating show.

The controversy began brewing days before the premiere when pictures of Islander Ollie Williams posing with dead animals surfaced online.

Nas, who has said he is of Caribbean and Asian heritage, did not seem bothered about the comparison however social media users voiced their discomfort with many contacting the broadcasting regulator, believing it to be racist.

Siannise, 25, made the comment after the 23-year-old picked her to be with, telling host Laura : “He’s lovely. As well, I love Princess Jasmine and he kind of looks like Aladdin.”

Laughing, Nas replied: “Don’t even do that to me, I’m actually gassed.”

There were 15 complaints about Connor Durman's behaviour during the episode aired on January 15, as social media users called his actions towards Sophie Piper "controlling".

Love Island winner Amber Gill was among those who shared their reaction to the scenes.

"I do think that Sophie needs to be careful. What I saw from Connor was intense," the 22-year-old told The Sun.

"He seemed like a control freak Sophie seems really sweet, so just needs to watch out, as she is a little bit vulnerable. I wouldn’t have any of that from him myself."
