ITV has denied claims that Love Island is fixed.

A spokesperson for the channel defended the reality series from viewers' suggestions that producers are fabricating certain events to maximise drama.

Those watching the show began noticing some discrepancies in the episode that saw the departure of Ollie Williams.

After saying goodbye to his fellow contestants, Ollie was shown carrying his suitcase out of the villa with no T-shirt or shoes on leaving viewers to wonder whether his farewells were real or not.

"Why isn't Ollie putting on any clothes to leave? Is it the rules that they only wear swimming costumes at all times?" one confused fan wrote on Twitter.

Another moment that led to questions from viewers was Leanne Amaning and Mike Boateng's first date, which seemed to show the former changing her outfit midway through.

Some even wondered if the pair had been armed with topics of conversation for the date scenes.

The ITV spokesperson denied this, though, telling The Mirror: "The opinions they have and the relationships formed are completely within the control of the Islanders themselves."

Love Island continues nightly on ITV2 at 9pm.
