Marcel Somerville has shared that he "nearly died" at the weekend after an unknown illness saw him admitted to hospital.
He said: “This is just a message to everyone that has been sending all their prayers and blessings.
“They don’t go missed, I really appreciate them, I really need them right now. It’s been a very, very hard few days for me.
“Saturday was literally the worst day of my life and I nearly died but just keep sending them my way because I really need them.”
Somerville also shared a glimpse of his arm attached to wires and a drip, but didn’t disclosed the details of his illness.
The 34-year-old appeared on the ITV2 reality show Love Island back in 2017 for series three. He entered into a romance with Gabby Allen, whom he continued to date once they left the villa after coming in fourth place in the competition.
They had a very public break up in 2018 after Somerville admitted to cheating on Allen while the pair were on holiday.
Somerville is currently in a relationship with Rebecca Vieira and has been spending lockdown with his girlfriend.
Allen went on to date Rak-Su member Myles Stephenson after her split from Somerville, but she and the singer called it quits last year.
