Love Island's Marcel Somerville says he 'nearly died' after illness lands him in hospital

Marcel Somerville has shared that he "nearly died" at the weekend after an unknown illness saw him admitted to hospital.

The Love Island star, who was also a member of Blazin' Squad, posted a message to his Instagram followers via Stories while speaking from his hospital bed.

He said: “This is just a message to everyone that has been sending all their prayers and blessings.

“They don’t go missed, I really appreciate them, I really need them right now. It’s been a very, very hard few days for me.

“Saturday was literally the worst day of my life and I nearly died but just keep sending them my way because I really need them.”

Somerville also shared a glimpse of his arm attached to wires and a drip, but didn’t disclosed the details of his illness.

The 34-year-old appeared on the ITV2 reality show Love Island back in 2017 for series three. He entered into a romance with Gabby Allen, whom he continued to date once they left the villa after coming in fourth place in the competition.

They had a very public break up in 2018 after Somerville admitted to cheating on Allen while the pair were on holiday.

Somerville is currently in a relationship with Rebecca Vieira and has been spending lockdown with his girlfriend.

Allen went on to date Rak-Su member Myles Stephenson after her split from Somerville, but she and the singer called it quits last year.
