Lawyers representing the man accused of kidnapping model Chloe Ayling have requested to question Love Island star Megan Barton Hanson over the abduction.

Michal Herba, 37, has been arrested after Ayling claims that he kidnapped her in Milan last year while she was there for a modelling job, although he has denied this.

Now his legal team want to talk to Ayling's friend Barton Hanson, stating that they believe Ayling contacted Herba to arrange the kidnapping in order to make herself famous. Ayling has consistently maintained that his version of events is untrue.

Herba's representative Simone Zancani is quoted by The Sun as saying: "We want to ask Megan if Chloe spoke about creating a scandal to get inside Celebrity Big Brother."

The two women have known each other for years, having worked together earlier in their careers.

The publication reports that Ayling's former agent and a publisher for a magazine she was connected to could also be questioned during his trial.

Ayling's manager Adrian Sington appeared on This Morning earlier this year and stated his belief that she is innocent, having researched her case before taking her on.

He also issued a chilling statement about the psychology of people who believe they 'own' beautiful women who appear in the public eye.

He said: "With Lukasz Herba, sometimes these men emerge from behind their screens and their sole aim, their mission, if you like, is to ruin the lives of these innocent women.

"And the notion that they've somehow asked for it, by what they look like, or what they do, or how much they've earned, it shouldn't be given house room. It's unfair and it's wrong."
