Reality star Megan Barton Hanson is reflecting on her plastic surgery.

Megan's best known for being part of 2018's Love Island cast, but a before-and-after image surfaced online last year showing off the work she'd had done – which resulted in some vicious trolling online.

Now, she's discussed why she went through multiple procedures and the backlash she received.

Appearing on BBC Two's Victoria Derbyshire show this week, Megan explained: "I had procedures done solely for me and my first was at 17, I had my ears pinned back. Then at 19 I had a boob job and rhinoplasty. It was all for me.

"Then when I was on TV, everyone were like 'this is her before, this is her after. She's so fake!'. Plastic surgery has made me happier. Obviously it didn't fix all of my problems and I had to work on myself."

The star then admitted that she "wasn't aware" of the fact that she was being trolled for her plastic surgery, calling the whole backlash "sad".

She said: "That's the kind of attitude that makes young people not do their research and rush into it, because they're scared to tell their family and friends that they want to go and get this procedure done in fear of bring judged."

Elsewhere, Megan's Love Island villa-mate Alexandra Crane has spoken out about her decision not to go under the knife after receiving offers for free procedures.
