Love Island winner Amber Davies shrieks as she holds tarantula on Good Morning Britain

Love Island winner Amber Davies overcame her fear of spiders by holding a tarantula on Good Morning Britain.

Davies was taken to Chessington World of Adventures with a group of fellow arachnophobes and given techniques to manage her emotions.

The 20-year-old looked apprehensive as she waited for her turn, telling cameras: “I wanna to go home”.

Despite shrieking as the tarantula crawled onto her hand, Davies managed to keep it together long enough to hold the arachnid.

A handler told the Love Island star: “You’re never going to be the same level of afraid again because you’ve done it, you’ve held a tarantula”.

Later in the show former Strictly Come Dancing professional and CBB housemate James Jordan also mastered his fear of spiders by holding a tarantula live in the studio.

He told GMB presenters Gate Garraway and Ben Shepherd: “My legs are shaking.”

It’s been a creepy crawly week on the ITV breakfast show - in Tuesday's show anchor Susanna Reid screamed as co-host Piers Morgan threatened to release a huge spider from its box.

As Morgan made to open the container, Reid shouted: “No, no, Piers no! You’re not allowed to. Please close that box up Morgan.”

She then refused to stand next to her presenting partner has he handled the tarantula later in the show.

“I'm not scared of spiders I'm just scared of what Piers Morgan will do with boxes full of spiders near him,” she said.

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6am on ITV.
