Love Island star Adam Collard will switch on a Northumberland town's Christmas lights later this month.

Ashington Town Council announced that the TV star would host the festive spectacular alongside Civic Head Coun Caroline Ball on November 28. There will be a Lantern and Toy Parade, and what the council describes as a "host of festive activities for the whole family".

A series of community groups from Ashington and the surrounding areas will be in attendance, including the Full Circle Food Project, Northumberland Community Bank, and Ashington Veterans and Elders Institute. Many local shops will extend their hours for the event itself, and in the weeks following the switch-on, residents and visitors can participate in the Christmas Trail, featuring more than 20 shops.
