Love Island star Amy Hart has looked back on her stint in the villa, admitting her mental health took a dive when she left the show.

Amy took part in the fifth season of ITV's programme, where she coupled up with Curtis Pritchard. After the pair hit the rocks following Casa Amor, she decided to exit the competition, moving in with her parents for a while.

"My mental health did take a bit of a dip when I came out, but I had that continuity [to help]," she told Matt Evers and Frankie Seaman on the Ice Breakers podcast.

"I remember one day, I was really stressed and I snapped at my best friend and she was like, 'Funny, yeah no, we don't, we don't do that, you're an air hostess from Worthing, remember, you're an air hostess from Worthing'."

Amy also explained how she hadn't quite adjusted to being recognised and recalled an incident where she was "mobbed" in central London.

However, she praised ITV for arranging for her to meet with a financial advisor, a counsellor, and someone who could offer advice on how to protect herself on social media.

"I got mobbed outside Topshop in Oxford Street. Literally, I stepped out of Topshop and a girl had seen me in there. And she came out and then someone else walked past and went, 'Oh my god, it's Amy from Love Island!'" she said.

"And there was a group of schoolkids that were obviously up there on like an exchange trip or whatever and they were all like, 'Oh my god, it's Amy from Love Island!'"

Speaking about the online abuse she was subjected to when she exited the villa, she said: "When you first come out it's mad, and faceless accounts would be like, 'You're disgusting, you're the fat one in Love Island, you're so ugly, you're this or that'."

The online harassment got worse when she was pregnant with her son Stanley, with people commenting on her every move on social media.

"I said that I'd bought six outfits for the baby because I didn't know what I was having, and I got messages like, 'I can't wait for you to have your baby, I can't bear to watch this anymore. You are so stupid'," she said.

Amy, who welcomed Stanley with fiancé Samuel Rason last year, is currently hosting the audio spin-off for Love Island: All Stars with Indiyah Polack and I'm a Celebrity winner Sam Thompson.

Love Island: All Stars airs at 9pm on ITV1, ITV2, ITVX and STV.
