Love Island's Caroline Flack arrested and charged with assault

Caroline Flack has been arrested and charged by police following an alleged assault.

The Met Police confirmed to MailOnline that police were called to Islington "after reports of a man being assaulted" in the early hours of Thursday (December 12). The Love Island presenter has been released on bail, with her hearing taking place on December 23.

"Caroline Flack, 40, of Islington was charged on Friday, December 13 with assault by beating," a Met Police spokesperson said. "She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday, December 23.

"This follows an incident at approximately 05:25 hrs on Thursday, December 12 after reports of a man being assaulted. He was not seriously injured."

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service added: "We were called yesterday at 5.28am to reports of a person unwell in Islington.

"We sent an ambulance to the scene and took a person to hospital."

The incident comes weeks before a new winter version of Love Island, set to film in South Africa, is rumoured to be launching on ITV2. Flack has been teasing the series on social media in recent weeks.

Flack also recently announced that she would be presenting new Channel 4 show The Surjury.

ITV has yet to comment on Flack's arrest.
