It's just over a week until Love Island returns to our screens, and we couldn't be more excited.

And it looks as if host Caroline Flack shares our giddiness, as she couldn't wait any longer to reunite with the show's narrator Iain Stirling.

The two happily posed together at Caroline's River Island clothing launch party in London on Thursday evening.

Ahead of the new series launch, Caroline has defended the show after it was intensely criticised in the wake of the deaths of former contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.

Caroline told Metro's Guilty Pleasures that the show has "romance at its core", adding: "Anyone who's watched the last four series will know this hasn't changed.

"The show is a journey of love and emotions that everyone can relate to and learn from. We are a feel good show."

The show's broadcaster ITV has also released details of its updated aftercare process for contestants, following the criticisms.

There will now be enhanced psychological support for those taking part, as well as training for all cast members on financial management and social media, plus in-depth conversations with all involved about the impact that participation can have on their lives.

In addition, a minimum of eight therapy sessions are available to each Islander once they return home from the villa, with proactive contact being kept up for 14 months after the series ends.

Love Island returns to ITV2 on Monday, June 3.
