Yahoo News Love Island's Davide Sanclimenti disputes Ekin-Su break-up statement
Love Island star Davide Sanclimenti has disputed ex-girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu's statement about their break-up.
Earlier on Tuesday (January 30), The Traitors US star Ekin-Su released a statement on Instagram where she wrote that she'd "recently made the decision to end [their] relationship".
Davide has since responded on his own Instagram Story several hours later, claiming that their split had been a mutual decision despite the way Ekin-Su framed it.
"Life sometimes reserves surprises and suddenly wakes you up," he wrote. "Ekin and I, just after the ski holidays, decided to go different ways. It was a joint decision but I was waiting to make it public to respect her time in the show [The Traitors]. I don't know why the agreed statement changed last minute."

The reality star wrote that he still regarded their relationship as "a beautiful story" even though they'd had "ups and downs".
"I loved every moment, from the first time I knew her in the [Love Island] Villa until life outside. I really believed in us and saw a future for us," he wrote. "But sometimes in life people need to grow apart. Is just the direction of life. I will treasure our moments forever."
He also suggested he would be taking some time to "focus on" himself and thanked his fans for their "unconditional support".

In her own earlier statement, Ekin-Su asked for privacy as she tried to move on from her split with Davide.
"I enjoyed our time together and will cherish the memories we made. Thank you for your continued support," she said. "It's been so lovely to have you follow our Love Island journeys together since the villa and we hope you'll continue to follow our careers as we go off in our own directions."
After leaving the Love Island villa as a couple, Ekin-Su and Davide initially broke up last June before eventually reconciling on a holiday to Turkey for Ekin's birthday.
