Love Island star Laura Anderson found herself in the midst of a social media storm after sharing her experience flying from Dubai with her young daughter, Bonnie.

Laura and her daughter flew business class home from her holiday in Dubai earlier this month.

While she documented the journey in a light-hearted Instagram video, Laura was quick to pre-empt any backlash with a disclaimer, making it clear she knew sitting in business class is a privilege.

"Disclaimer* before anyone calls me tone deaf. I am aware sitting in business class is a privilege if someone chooses to do so," she wrote, addressing trolls who might have a problem with her seating choice.

She went on to explain that the main reason she opted for business class was because of her accommodation arrangements in Dubai - staying with her sister meant she didn’t have the added expense of a hotel stay.

The former flight attendant said the choice to spend money on a business class flight was her "preference on where to spend and save".

She continued: "I would be happy to sit in economy if I had another adult travelling with me."

The 35-year-old addressed the practical reasons behind her decision to travel business, saying it was due to the extra space that would make flying alone with a child a little less stressful.

She even shared a pointer for other parents flying solo: "If you are travelling alone with your child on a long haul flight in economy ie you have to sit next to someone you don't know try to have a mooch around the cabins for empty rows."

As she explained cabin crew would be more than helpful to assist you to the empty seats - providing tips she will know from her days as an Emirates flight attendant.

Despite her best efforts to avoid coming across as “tone deaf,” some followers weren’t entirely sympathetic to Laura’s predicament.

One person sarcastically commented: "my heart bleeds for you Laura."

Whilst another wrote: "At least had business class and a nice airport lounge, i've always done this on easy jet... once i did do a 9 hour flight it was hard-core, had tonsillitis as soon as i got to the resort."

And a third said: "Id be calling you tone deaf for subjecting a 16 month old and the other people on the plane to that kind of selfishness. Ah well, u for ur tan and a few nights out that's all that counts i guess."
