The colder weather makes for a lovely chance to explore some of South London’s prettiest parks covered in beautiful frost and fallen leaves. And while green spaces like Richmond and Victoria Park get a lot of attention, there’s some lovely places for a winter stroll down south.

Taking just half an hour, this pretty route will give walkers the chance to check out lovely Vauxhall Park, grab a coffee, explore some shops and even grab a Sunday roast to finish it all off.

The Canton Arms, where walkers will finish their route, was recently named among the best Sunday Roasts in London. In fact, it was the only South London venue to feature on the list, officially making it the Good Food Guide’s best roast south of the river.

Based in Stockwell, The Canton Arms serves up delicious roasts featuring options like lamb cooked for seven hours and rare Dexter beef. Dishes are served with the likes of potato gratin, greens and roasties.

The walk itself should not take more than half an hour. However, with pit stops, it could make for a full morning out.

Start your walk at Vauxhall Tube Station if you’re travelling from elsewhere. Make your way down to Vauxhall Park where you can grab a coffee at Parco Café.

Be sure to have a leisurely stroll around the park. This Victorian park retains many of its original features including a playground and fountain.

Once you’ve had your fill, head down South Lambeth Road and browse any interesting shops on your way. There’s plenty to check out including a deli, greengrocers and pubs.

You’ll finally arrive at The Canton Arms where you can order yourself a delicious roast. Their Sunday menu features many other options as well including Duck Confit, pheasant and smoked ham pie, and crab and cheddar tart.
