The meet-cute

Emily: We met on Tinder, and Dan was the first to message. It turned out that we grew up 10 minutes away from each other in Surrey. We instantly had lots in common.

The first date

Emily: We met for drinks on a Saturday. We both had parties later in the evening, so if it was a disaster it would be easy to escape.

First impressions

Dan: We met at The Sun pub in Clapham. I turned up late but with a puppy under one arm and a bottle of prosecco under the other. Apparently, Emily told her friends at the party later that night she thought she’d met the one.

Jet-set, go

Emily: We went to Egypt after knowing each other for four weeks. Some of my friends were slightly concerned I was being reckless.

Meeting the family

Dan: My parents were excited I’d found someone as lovely as Emily. It turned out my mum knew her aunt.

Moving in

Emily: Dan asked me to move in after four months, and it felt totally right. It turns out he’s not a very good sleeper, so I often get woken at 4am to the sound of the bath running.

Popping the question

This is the ‘perfect’ time to get engaged, according to experts

Dan: I proposed on a dog walk at Black Down in Surrey, somewhere Emily and her family have been going since she was born. We got to a viewpoint, then I got a muddy knee while producing a ring and two mini bottles of bubbles which I had hidden in my winter coat. We then heard some people coming but carried on drinking our bubbles as though it it was a totally normal thing to do at 10.30am on a Saturday.

The big day

Emily: We got married in a barn in Sussex with a funky gospel choir. Indie, our dog, was the ring bearer.

Couples who work together

Emily: A lot of our friends think we’re mad to work together but we love it.

I work from home and care for our baby, Willow. Dan pops home from our office in Battersea to make me lunch and see Willow.
