Loyal NHS Ayrshire and Arran workers honoured with special events after clocking 40 years of service

Ayrshire 's long-serving NHS staff were guests of honour at two special events held by the region's health board recently.

Staff at NHS Ayrshire and Arran who have worked in the health service for more than 40 years were celebrated at the events held at University Hospital Ayr in Ayr and University Hospital Crosshouse in Crosshouse.

The celebration events brought together NHS colleagues who have dedicated their careers to providing health and care services to their local communities.

Guests enjoyed an afternoon tea, sharing memories and reflecting on the changes they have witnessed throughout their years of service.

All those celebrating more than 40 years’ service were presented with a commemorative pin and card.

Lesley Bowie, chair of Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board, explained: “It is an honour to recognise the incredible dedication and commitment of our colleagues who have given more than 40 years of service to the NHS. Their unwavering passion and hard work have made a lasting impact on patients, families, and the wider community. They truly embody the values of the NHS, and we are immensely grateful for their service.”

Claire Burden, chief executive, added: “We have 127 members of staff working in the organisation who have dedicated more than four decades to caring and service provision. It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to meet with colleagues at our celebration events and have time to hear their stories from over the years.
