Lucas Vazquez and Marca Asensio… I haven't seen such a dangerous pairing since Tango and Cash, says Arbeloa
As Cristiano Ronaldo failed to find the back of the net for the first time in 13 games in Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday, two more peripheral talents proved their worth.
Lucas Vazquez, who having started as a winger was forced to drop in at right-back following an injury to Dani Carvajal, impressed while Marco Asensio, having replaced Isco at the break, bagged the winner following a mistake from Rafinha, and one Los Blancos legend was more than impressed.
Former Real Madrid and West Ham full-back Alvaro Arbeloa, who racked up over 230 appearances - and two Champions League medals - with the Spanish giants took to Twitter to compare Vazquez and Asensio, who combined for the winning goal following the mistake, to a duo of a slightly older vintage.
Comparing them to Tango & Cash, played by Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell in the 1980s, Arbeloa tweeted "I didn't see a couple with so much danger since Tango and Cash!
No veía una pareja con tanto peligro como @Lucasvazquez91 y @marcoasensio10 desde Tango y Cash... ¡Cracks!
Kiev en el horizonte pero aún nos tocará sufrir. ¡¡HALA MADRID!! pic.twitter.com/AIVSLYzjEE— Álvaro Arbeloa (@aarbeloa17) April 25, 2018
"Kiev on the horizon, but we will still have to suffer... Hala Madrid!!"
Madrid take a 2-1 lead into the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu and look set for a third consecutive Champions League final, having won the last two.
