Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has revealed her family won't watch her character Bethany Platt's grooming scenes.

Bethany is currently being groomed by sinister newcomer Nathan Curtis in one of the ITV soap's grittiest storylines to date.

While Bethany believes she is in a normal relationship with a man 20 years her senior, she is oblivious to Nathan's unscrupulous intentions.

Bethany might be none the wiser at the moment but fans are acutely aware of the danger she is placing herself in, following last year's reports that the teenager will find herself caught in a sex ring when Nathan attempts to "pimp her out" to his friends.

Speaking on today's Loose Women (April 19), the 21-year-old actress told the panelists that neither her dad nor her boyfriend Tom can face watching her recent ITV soap scenes.

"Tom finds it difficult to watch because it's me and I'm having to act out those things," she said.

"And my dad finds it difficult because it's his daughter. My mum is very supportive."

She continued: "I was really nervous. I've only been on the show for two years. It's a big responsibility for me. I want to do it justice.

"In a way it's really great I've been given this opportunity to do it because as an actor it's something you want to sink your teeth into."

Lucy's boyfriend Tom, who was sat in the Loose Women audience added: "I don't choose to watch it which is a shame because I want to be supportive as possible.

"I rely on the rest of the nation to tell me how amazing she is, which I'm told she is."
