Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson has broken her silence on her relationship with ex-husband Alan Halsall, admitting co-parenting can be a challenge.

Hudson, who played Katy Harris in the soap, welcomed son Carter with her partner Lewis Devine in February. Halsall, Tyrone Dobbs in Corrie – with whom she has six-year-old daughter Sienna – did not react well to the family’s announcement on social media.

Devine wrote on Instagram: "Our Sienna is delighted and is already making the best big sister, just like I knew she would!”

Halsall replied, in a now deleted post: “You’re welcome to keep the lying cheating one & call her your own! But not my daughter.”

Hudson, 36, told OK! magazine: "I had literally just given birth to Carter when he posted that so I didn’t see it and my head was elsewhere. He quickly deleted it so he must have regretted it.

"I didn’t bother bringing it up with him. Lew and I were both too focused on Carter so it just didn’t get our attention."

She added: "The thing is, everybody who has a blended family knows it’s not easy. You can’t pretend that it is.

"And me and Alan sometimes have different views on raising Sienna so trying to co-parent can be challenging. It’s probably like that for a lot of blended families."

Hudson and Halsall, 37, met when they starred in ITV soap Coronation Street as Katy and Tyrone. They were married for nine years, before splitting in 2018.

The actress, who is also known for her role in Hollyoaks, got together with Devine in 2018 after she and Halsall had split.

She announced her pregnancy in August, writing on Instagram: “We are 13 weeks pregnant and so very excited to extend our little family… Sienna is so excited to be a big sister… and Lew is ecstatic to become a daddy for the first time and I am so happy to be having another gorgeous baby!

“No other feeling like it xxx.”
