LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) – Lufkin ISD announced that one of their administrators was elected to be a part of the board of directors for the Instructional Materials Coordinators’ Association of Texas (IMCAT).
Lufkin ISD announced on Tuesday that Erin Kay, director of science and social studies for the district, has been elected to serve a three year term on IMCAT’s board of directors. The school said that IMCAT oversees instructional materials in the state of Texas and is responsible for training instructional materials coordinators for public schools and open enrollment charter schools.
“Being part of the IMCAT board provides an opportunity to serve students and teachers of Lufkin ISD with effective and timely instructional materials, collaborate with other schools across the state and be involved in legislative updates with the State Board of Education and the Texas Education Agency,” said Kay. “This board appointment allows Lufkin ISD to have a voice in upcoming instructional materials changes and ensures we are on the cutting edge of state adopted resources.”
Lufkin ISD said that they are glad to have Kay represent their district’s values for the IMCAT.
