New update on 'luxury' Greek restaurant on Castle Street
A new 'luxury' Greek restaurant, Zeus Taverna, is gearing up to open its doors on Castle Street. The business occupies the former Boots store which is located between Sainsbury's and Gentleman George's Tattoo Parlour.
A lone poster previously invited people to "step into a world inspired by the sun-kissed island of Santorini, where the rich flavours of Greece meet Mediterranean elegance". Now, cyan blue and white vinyl banners have been displayed in the restaurant's windows and door showing a range of Greek dishes.
While an official opening date is unconfirmed, the poster states Zeus Taverna is "coming soon." Despite sharing similar typography and name with Victoria Street's cocktail bar and restaurant Zenn, a spokesperson confirmed to the ECHO that there is no connection between the two venues.

A planning report previously submitted to the local authority said: “The proposed site is situated within a built-up area on Castle Street, Liverpool and was formerly utilised as a Boots store. The restaurant will consist of internal works on the existing building.
“The new build work has been designed as to not have a negative impact on the well-known street. Several shops, restaurants and key visitor attractions are within walking distance from the proposed site.
“The site sits on a well-known street of historical importance in the centre of Liverpool. The intention is to create a luxury restaurant/bar whilst being sensitive to the Grade II site and its surroundings."
