Luxury hotel with A-list guests and its own Champagne Room 'coming soon' to Newcastle
It's a hotel chain that has welcomed many famous guests over the years and an update has now been given on when we can expect to see Dakota open its new luxury hotel in Newcastle.
A-listers from Hugh Jackman to the Spice Girls and Katy Perry to Oasis' Liam Gallagher have checked into Dakota hotels over the last few years, including ones in Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh and in early September 2023, it was revealed that plans had been approved for a new venue in Newcastle, in disused St Ann’s Wharf building, a prominent site on the riverside which has been empty for two years now.,
Dakota bosses promise that the Newcastle hotel, set to open its doors in spring 2025. will 'offer unparalleled waterfront style with some of the largest hotel bedrooms and suites in the city'. Located right on the banks of the River Tyne on the Quayside, with with stunning views of the water, Dakota Newcastle will feature 118 sophisticated bedrooms, including an array of suites.

The most glamorous of those will be the Grand Deluxe Suite, which comes wit a dedicated butler service, a cosy fireplace, a steam shower, a roll-top bath and spacious lounge and dressing area. Guests will also be able to relax and unwind in the hotel's own Champagne Room, being described as 'a beautifully designed intimate setting for sophisticated drinks' or on the Cigar Terrace, offering an extensive selection of premium cigars in a stylish outdoor setting.
Excited about branching out to Newcastle, Andrew Ovenstone, Managing Director of Dakota Hotels, who also count tennis icon Andy Murray and pop star turned West End and Broadway leading lady Nicole Scherzinger among their guests, shared his excitement about the new opening: “Newcastle promises to be an exciting addition to our portfolio, and we look forward to bringing our unique brand of hospitality to this great city. These are exciting times for Dakota, and we have ambitious plans to bring luxury lifestyle experiences to destinations that matter most.”
The update on the predicted spring 2025 opening for Dakota Newcastle came as a dedicated Instagram account was launched for the new hotel, as tiles spelling out Hello Newcastle. Coming soon to the Quayside' were pinned to its grid.
