The people behind a luxury Surrey hotel home to both one of the UK’s best spas and a Michelin-starred restaurant have announced an opening date for new lakeside lodges 20 minutes from the county. South Lodge in West Sussex is a sister venue to Pennyhill Park in Bagshot and is soon to welcome guests to its eight new waterside stays.

Images show impressions of the glass-fronted designs with a decked area over the lake in what owners at the Exclusive Collection describe as harmonising with the countryside. The detached two-bedroom “sanctuaries” will be named The Reeds and plans to immerse visitors in the restorative power of the surroundings.

South Lodge has confirmed the six lakeside lodges and two lakeside spa lodges can be booked in time for the summer. The company’s website lists the first available night as July 22. Prices start from £1,200.

Each of the lodges has a fully glazed double-height ceiling that offers views across the lake and floods the interior with natural light. The six regular lodges feature two bedrooms, an open plan living space, and a range of modern features. The two spa lodges also feature space for relaxation and are said to promise a rejuvenating break.

Each lodge has its own steam shower, outdoor whirlpool bath and infrared halotherapy sauna. They also have tanks that harvest rainwater to reuse and have water source heat pumps to generate heating. Guests staying at the lodges will have full access to facilities at South Lodge Hotel and can book guided wild swimming sessions.

South Lodge has 88 rooms and suites with three dining options from the Michelin-starred The Passto 3 AA Rosette Camellia. Pennyhill Park meanwhile has been described as “Surrey’s most luxurious spa and hotel retreat” with 124 bedrooms.

Latymer restaurant has been named in the UK’s top 100 places to eat for 2024 by Harden’s as well as by SquareMeal, in addition to its Michelin star. The AA further tipped Pennyhill Park as one of the best spas in the UK at the end of 2023.
