TOWIE star Lydia Bright has admitted to regretting the amount of makeup she used to wear on the show, and that the pictures continue to haunt her today.

She reveals this in conversation with Kate Thornton, chatting on the brand new podcast ‘White Wine Question Time’, produced by Kate Thornton in association with Yahoo.

Lydia was joined on the podcast episode by her sister Georgia - also a TOWIE star - and their mother, Debbie.

Reality star Lydia said: “I was getting ready for my first appearance on TOWIE and I was piling on the makeup.

“Mum said to stop putting on so much makeup, and that less was more.

“But I was 18 and from Essex where being orange was really in, and I had heavy, huge eyelashes on. I could hardly open my eyes!

“Back then, we didn’t have makeup artists or kind producers to tell me I looked like I’d bathed in Bisto, so I sat there blissfully unaware.

“The next week I watched it live on TV and the abuse I got on Twitter – you’ve never seen anything like it.

“They called me every name under the sun. Everyone thought I was in drag.”

Thanks to the internet, it’s impossible for Lydia to leave those days behind her forever. She said: “The saddest thing about it all is that I can never get away from it because the images will still be on Google.

“People still send them to me now…”

Lydia has revealed in the past how bad the social media trolling became when he first joined TOWIE. "I was the victim of severe Twitter abuse when I first started on TOWIE,” she has admitted.

"I was only 18 and when I first started Twitter was just starting too. I was playing myself and people had opinions on that and they weren’t thinking about things before they put it out there.

"I knew I’d taken this job role on where I was putting myself out there but I was not ready for the abuse that I got at the beginning.

TOWIE at its height was getting 1.3 million views, and some weeks I’d be getting 50,000 tweets an hour. Sometimes they were really against me.

“I struggled – I was young, I was new to the industry, it really did affect me. At times I thought I really couldn’t do this anymore.

“It was supposed to be the best time in my life and I was given the opportunity of a lifetime and instead, strangers who I’ve never met were completely ruining my experience.”
