Marks and Spencer shoppers have been left celebrating after the return of a Christmas "staple" for the festive season. M&S, which has stores in Birmingham, Solihull and beyond, has caused customers to rejoice after bringing back a Christmas classic.

M&S will bring back its classic snowball cocktail this Christmas with the launch of an exclusive-recipe Advocaat liqueur. M&S has created an Advocaat made with free-range egg yolks, and described the item as tasting "like custard in a glass" with a rich, creamy and sweet flavour profile.

The exclusive liqueur is now available for purchase at M&S Foodhalls nationwide. It explains: "Rich and smooth advocaat, made with free range egg yolks. Perfect served on the rocks or making a snowball cocktail." Made with Free Range Egg Yolk, Rich & Smooth, Expertly Blended, On the Rocks or Make a Snowball, Suitable for vegetarians."

Giving a three-star review on the Ocado website, a fan said: "This is thick with a pretty good flavour. It might be ok if you like it neat but - for whatever reason - it makes a rubbish snowball (whch is the reason I buy advocaat). You get very light, airy bubbles but they don't last at all and weirdly disappear when you go to drink it (might work better with a straw??). Free range eggs or not, I won't be buying this again as it doesn't produce a foamy head, which is what makes the snowball, after all!"

But another gave a gushing five-star verdict, typing: "I Prefer this to the famous one that Ive been buying for years, its much more flavoursome and its made with free range eggs. Excellent stuff." Another said: "So delicious and free range egg too, perfect sipped on ice."

"Can't believe this is using free range egg - well done M&S. Delicious!" another posted.
