I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’s latest Bushtucker Trial very much embraced the Christmas spirit as Fleur East and James McVey dressed up as Santa Claus and a blindfolded Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, but it also brought out another typical Christmas tradition too: cracking all the bad jokes you can think of.

While Fleur and James commented on the “very Christmassy” set-up, hosts Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoughby quickly got the festive quips going, with Dec explaining: “The two of you have got 15 minutes to make your way across our Christmas themed obstacle course collecting 6 stars as you go ho ho.”

But it didn’t end there, oh no – that was just the start of it.

“Are you both ready to Dec the halls with boughs of Holly?” Dec asked before the trial’s klaxon blared.

Throughout the trial, Fleur and James faced huge heights, the ever-present green ants and having to throw the stars to each other, much like the series’ earlier “impossible” trial Catch a Falling Star. When Fleur did catch the presents/stars though, she had to place them in Father Christmas’ sack, which of course led to...

“Well done Fleur, pop it in your sack,” Holly said in encouragement, prompting laughter from Dec.

“Why’s that funny?” asked Holly.

For the trial’s final hurdle, viewers were treated to a flying reindeer as James had to jump off the end of the platform to grab the final hanging present, but he just missed out on grabbing the star (and the meal it represented).

“Santa, you bring your sack,” Dec said at the end of the trial. “Rudolph, you be careful of yours.”

All in all, Fleur and James managed to get four stars, resulting in four meals for camp, but Dec couldn’t resist one last Christmas quip as Santa Claus and Rudolph left the trials area.

“Come back for Christmas Eve, [Holly’s] been a very good girl… most of the time,” he said.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! continues tomorrow night (December 7) at 9pm on ITV.
