I’m A Celebrity 2019: Bosses insist there’s ‘no cause for concern’ over Australian bushfires
ITV bosses have said there is no cause for concern after fires broke out in Australia 30km from the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! campsite.
Three people have died and 150 homes have been destroyed in the state of New South Wales after fires broke out on Thursday, November 7.
Australia is suffering one of its worst bushfire seasons, with parts of the country crippled by severe drought.
Authorities upgraded the forecast for the greater Sydney region with temperatures expected to reach 37C in the city on Tuesday.
It is first time Sydney has been rated at that level since new fire danger ratings were introduced in 2009.
By Sunday afternoon, about half of the more than 70 fires burning in New South Wales were still not under control, with two burning at an emergency level.
The I’m A Celebrity camp is located in a forest near to Murwillumbah, a remote town in far-north eastern New South Wales, close to the Queensland border.
In recent days, bush fires have broken out 30km from the campsite in the city of Lower Beechmount.
But bosses have stated they are “closely monitoring” the situation and are continuing to liase with the New South Wales Fire Brigade.
In a statement, they told Standard Online: “We are in constant contact with the NSW fire brigade and are closely monitoring the situation. We currently have no cause for concern. The health and safety of all our production crew and celebrities are of the utmost importance."
Firefighters have issues “catastrophic fire danger” warnings for tomorrow to south eastern parts of New South Wales, including Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Illwarra and Shoalhaven.
The worst hit areas are currently 730 km south of the I’m A Celebrity campsite.
Tomorrow will see very dangerous fire conditions across NSW. Is the NSW RFS telling people to evacuate? No. A simple thing to do is avoid bush fire prone areas. Safer areas may be a large town or city, shopping centres or facilities far away from bushland areas. #nswrfs #nswfires pic.twitter.com/ilpZkuPtrs

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, presenters for the show, posted a photograph of them together arriving in Australia at the weekend.
Rumoured contestants including Caitlyn Jenner and Ian Wright have been photographed arriving at Brisbane airport on Sunday, November 10th.
