Boy George has joined the I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2022 cast.
It’s been reported that he has been offered around £500,000 to appear on the hit ITV show. This will make him the highest-paid campmate ever alongside Caitlyn Jenner, who received a similar sum to appear on the 2017 series.
George will join celebrities such as MP Matt Hancock, former rugby star Mike Tindall and radio DJ Chris Moyles in the jungle this year. They have also reportedly accepted large sums of money to be on the show, which starts on Sunday, November 6.
Alongside them will be Jill Scott, Seann Walsh, Olivia Atwood, Sue Cleaver, Scarlette Douglas, Babatunde Aleshe, Charlene White and Owen Warner.
But who is Boy George and what is his net worth?
Who is Boy George?
George, who was born George Alan O’Dowd, is an English singer, songwriter, DJ and fashion designer.
He is the lead singer of the pop band Culture Club. At the height of the band’s fame in the 1980s, they recorded global hit songs such as Karma Chameleon, Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and Time (Clock of the Heart).
Sources have said that George would not be taking part in any of I’m a Celebrity’s renowned bushtucker trials. This is because he follows a vegan diet and is unable to consume any animal products.
The singer has previously appeared in TV series in addition to his music career. Along with the other members of Culture Club, he appeared in an episode of The A-Team in 1986. He also appeared as himself in a Hollyoaks episode in 2003.
George is known for his soulful voice and his androgynous appearance.
He is not currently known to be in a relationship. He has previously revealed that he is gay, not bisexual, and that he had secret relationships with Culture Club drummer Jon Moss and punk rocker Kirk Brandon in his 1995 autobiography Take It Like a Man.
What is his net worth?
George is worth $50 million (£43.8m), according to celebritynetworth.com.
