Who is Andew Maxwell? All you need to know about I'm A Celebrity 2019 contestant

It's official - the I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! line-up has been confirmed and comedian Andrew Maxwell is one of the 10 celebrities who will be taking part in the new series.

The Irish star, 45, will join the likes of Caitlyn Jenner and Ian Wright in the jungle and while he might not be as well-known as his campmates, Maxwell has cropped up on our screens over the years.

He has also won awards for his comedy – even being named the "King of Comedy” on the Channel 4 reality TV show of the same name.

Comedy career

He started stand up in 1992 and soon began taking warm-up slots on British television.

He has been nominated for the if.comedy award for the best show at the Edinburgh Fringe and has won the Time Out Live Award for Best Stand-up, the Chortle Award for Best Contribution To The Live Comedy, the Best Irish Comedian gong at the Entertainment.ie Awards and Channel 4’s King of Comedy award.

Ex on the Beach

Since 2014, Maxwell has voiced MTV’s Ex on the Beach.

The show sees four single men and four single women jet off to a beachside resort and party – before being confronted by their exes.

Like Love Island narrator Iain Stirling, Maxwell gives witty commentary on the programme.

Other television shows

Highlights of his televised comedy career include guest starring roles on Live At The Apollo (BBC One) and Have I Got News For You (BBC One).

He's also popped up on Celebrity Juice (ITV2) Mock The Week (BBC Two) and QI (BBC Two).

Radio shows

He has guest starred on The Now Show, State of the Nations, The News Quiz and It’s Not What You Know, all on BBC Radio 4. He also regularly hosted Andrew Maxwell’s Public Enemies on BBC Radio 4 on 2013 covering topics such as nationalism, drugs trade, the Internet and the food industry.
