I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! 2018 contestant Fleur East has dished the dirt on her departure from Simon Cowell's record label.

Appearing on today's (January 20) Sunday Brunch on Channel 4, Fleur was asked about her long-awaited return to music and why it's taken so long.

"Well, I was touring, doing 'Sax' around the world for about a year and a half, and then I was away in the studio for ages," she explained. "And I was with Syco, and then I left at the end of 2017, so all of last year was building my new team, writing again, falling back in love with music."

Although she parted ways with Syco, the label allowed her to transport her latest work from their hands and continue her journey elsewhere.

"Thankfully we parted on good terms, so they fully support me and they let me take all the music that I'd be working on, so that's amazing."

Fleur - who struck up a close friendship with Harry Redknapp in the jungle - then discussed how she didn't ever plan on leaving Syco, but was forced to for the benefit of her career.

"We were just on completely different pages, creatively. Basically, it's like me running into the office going 'I've got the song now guys', and they were like 'Nah, go back to the drawing board', and it was basically that for about a year and a half."

The 31-year-old continued: "So I just said 'I want to release music, that's what I love to do and if I'm not doing that, it's best that we kind of just [part]'."
