M&S’s Easter Colin The Caterpillar Is Frightening Everyone

It’s not a British person’s birthday if they’re not presented with a Colin The Caterpillar cake from M&S.

Over the years, Colin has had a number of makeovers. He was given a Santa’s hat at Christmas, he became undead for Halloween, and he’s even been downsized into a load of mini versions. Oh, and you can’t forget his girlfriend Connie making an appearance and the pair of them getting done up for their wedding day.

But Colin’s latest lewk hasn’t gone down quite as well as the guys at Marks & Spencer were hoping.

Colin’s had a makeover for Easter, which sounds like it would be super-cute, right?

WRONG.

He’s been given big floppy ears, giant buck teeth, which could probably tear through human flesh, plus his new eyes are the deadest eyes I’ve ever seen.

He does have sweet little pastel-coloured sprinkles and mini carrots on his back, but it’s not enough to make up for the fact that Colin now looks like the nightmarish bunny from Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

And it’s not just that scary rabbit that Colin’s been compared to – when a photo of Easter Colin was posted to the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing & Bargains UK, a member was quick to point out his similarity to Donnie Darko’s mate.

Then there was this comment, which brought back some terrible, terrible childhood trauma.

“That's the general out of Watership Down!”

Back to therapy I go…

But not everyone was terrified to their core after having a glimpse at Easter Colin – there were also plenty of people loving his new look and commenting that they’ll definitely be getting one for the Easter bank holiday.

Maybe these people are the Devil’s henchmen, and have been tasked with holding an Easter soiree in the fiery pits of Hell…

If you are one of those people, he's available from 31 March and will set you back £10.
