Kathleen Stock debate at the Oxford Union

On Tuesday evening, Professor Kathleen Stock attended an event at the Oxford Union which sparked backlash from trans activists. The academic has previously stated she believes trans women are not women.

It comes as Rishi Sunak backed Professor Stock on Monday, urging students to engage with the her views even if they disagree with her.

Many Telegraph readers praised Professor Stock for going ahead with the talk despite disruption from protesters; and argued that Ms Stock’s views are not anti-trans but pro-woman.

ITV scandal

Phillip Schofield’s resignation from ITV has also continued to dominate the news this week, after he admitted to an affair with a much younger This Morning colleague.

Some readers supported Petronella Wyatt’s view that the interest in Mr Schofield’s personal life is destructive. Others argued the presenter’s popularity and charm allowed him to “get away with behaviours that would not be acceptable in most workplaces”.

Novak Djokovic sparks political storm

Novak Djokovic sparked controversy at Roland Garros for writing a political statement appearing to deny Kosovo’s independence.

Although some readers defended the stunt, saying Mr Djokovic was exercising his right to freedom of speech, others argued that politics should be kept out of sport.
