The long-awaited Mötley Crüe biopic may have finally found a home at Netflix.

A feature-length film about the notorious rock band is thought to have been in the works for a while now, although anything concrete had yet to materialise.

Both Paramount and Focus Features have previously signalled interest in producing the film, but it seems negotiations for the much-anticipated biopic have now landed on Netflix's doorstep.

THR reports that Netflix are close to signing on the dotted line for rights to the movie.

While directors such as David Fincher and Larry Charles were linked to the project in the past, it's thought Jackass director Jeff Tremaine is now attached to head up the rock 'n' roll tale.

The biopic will be based on one the group's New York Times bestselling autobiography.

The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band, was written by Mötley Crüe members Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx, as well as author Neil Strauss, and will provide source material for the feature.

The book charts the rise of the iconic 1980s band on the hair metal and rock scene, charting its member's experiences with drug overdoses, sex, run-ins with the police and in-fighting.

On board to produce are Julie Yorn, Erik Olsen, and Allen Kovac, with Chris Nilsson, Steven Kline, and Rick Yorn inline to executive-produce.

The band itself will all act as members are co-producers on the film, so we can imagine there will be a lot of 'Smokin in the Board Room'.
