Whether you’ve given your garden an update for entertaining or booked to spend all your free time drinking and dining alfresco, if you’re anything like us, the return to “normal” has got you excited.

After months of spending every waking hour dressed in our lockdown uniform (aka loungewear, joggers or activewear), it’s finally time to be released back into the wild and re-establish our love for everything fashion.

If you’re yet to decide on the perfect re-entry outfit, the timing of the new M&S x Ghost collection couldn’t have been better – and with such a loyal fan base, with the likes of Holly Willoughby and Kate Middleton frequently donning Ghost designs, we think you’re going to love it.

Fresh off the back of M&S introducing a host of popular fashion brands into its own clothing line, the latest collaboration with British brand Ghost follows on from its sell-out range from November last year.

The autumn/winter 2020 collaboration boasted a range of mood-boosting dresses, which you’d expect from Ghost, and the latest drop is no different.

Reflecting Ghost’s signature vintage-inspired prints and silhouettes, the new 15-piece collection includes a range of mini and midi dresses that are perfect for springtime socialising.

As always with M&S, sizing is inclusive, with each piece available in a size UK 6 to 20, and they range in price from £59 to £89, which is particularly good when you consider that the average dress from Ghost’s own brand tends to cost in the region of £100.

In true IndyBest form, we’ve selected our favourite pieces that we’ve added straight to baskets to help you decide what’s worth buying.

From signature tea dresses to wrap styles, these are timeless classics that are designed to last. And much like the fashion house’s previous collaboration with the high street stalwart, we predict these will fly off the shelves, so you’ll want to act fast.

You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

We are equally as dotty with this midi number as we were when M&S launched its affordable dupe of Kate Middleton’s sell-out £1,500 polka dot dress. With a slight empire line cut, this floaty number looks like it’ll be ideal if you’re looking to accentuate the waistline but don’t want anything too tight.

If you’re looking for a mini dress to waft away the days this summer, this may be it. Adorned with a playful pink floral pattern, it’s the perfect way to inject some colour into your wardrobe. We particularly love the gathered three-quarter length sleeves that could be rolled up for a more puffy look.

While florals for spring might not do for Miranda Priestly, we’re obsessed with this ditsy light purple print. With a ruffled V-neck neckline, short, free-flowing sleeves and tie back detailing, this is everything and more you’d expect from Ghost x M&S and has got us planning our next picnic in the park.

Another elegant midi dress, but this time in a light blue pattern that is bound to brighten up any grey day. When it comes to styling, we’d opt for a leather jacket to balance out the feminine print, a basket bag (£49.99, Mango.co.uk) and pair of white trainers.

With a slightly more subtle nod to Ghost’s floral fascination, we’ll be reaching for this dress time and again. The midi length and dark colourway make this one an easy to wear choice, all year-round. During the summer months, pair with sandals (£135, Russellandbromley.co.uk), but when winter hits, wear with tights and boots, and you’ll be good to go.
