M25 traffic diversion route in full as motorway closed in Surrey
A diversion route has been put in place due to the M25 being closed in Surrey clockwise between J8 (Reigate) and J9 (Leatherhead). Emergency services including Surrey Police are on the scene on Tuesday afternoon (November 19) for the ongoing incident with traffic queuing back to Junction 7 for the M23.
The exact nature of what has happened is not currently known but the online traffic and travel reporting site Inrix states there was a 'medical emergency' at about 2.40pm and traffic on the anti clockwise is slow due to 'onlookers'. National Highways Traffic Officers and contractors will also be on scene assisting with traffic management.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey. Further information is available from National Highways by visiting our www.trafficengland.com website and travel apps, or via our regional X feed. Our 24/7 contact centre team is also available to provide up to the minute information on 0300 123 5000."
