Yahoo News M40 crash: Woman fighting for life after second serious collision on motorway in 24 hours
A woman is fighting for life after a collision on the M40 a day after a fatal crash which claimed three lives.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) said the woman was rushed to hospital in Oxford with serious head injuries, following a collision between a silver Lexus and a refuse lorry at around 2.50pm on Tuesday.
Another passenger in the Lexus and the driver of the car suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital, police said.
The driver of the lorry was not injured.

A stretch of the northbound side of the motorway was closed between junctions 8 and 8A near Oxford after the incident on Tuesday until shortly after 6pm.
The southbound carriageway was also closed due to the incident, though it has reopened.
Highways England had put diversions in place due to the incident, advising drivers to exit at junction 8 and take the A40, before rejoining at junction 8A.
It also detailed that an air ambulance had attended the scene of Tuesday's collision.
TVP said in a statement: "A female passenger in the Lexus suffered serious and life-threatening head and facial injuries and has been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
"Another passenger in the Lexus and the driver of the car suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
"The driver of the lorry was not injured."
The incident comes one day after another tragic crash, which police said happened when a car towing a caravan travelled the wrong way down the M40 northbound.
A Subaru Forester was seen pulling a caravan the wrong direction on the northbound carriageway of the motorway in south Oxfordshire shortly before 4pm on Monday afternoon.
The vehicle was subsequently in a collision with a Ford Mondeo and a Ford Focus - killing the Subaru driver and passenger, both in their 80s, and the Mondeo driver, a man in his 30s.
Shocking footage of the car hurtling the wrong way through traffic emerged after the incident between junctions six and eight on the motorway.
Witnesses are asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101 quoting URN 745 (16/10).
