M49 closed after serious multi-vehicle crash
The M49 remains closed on Thursday night after a serious multi-vehicle collision. The incident on the northbound carriageway involves four vehicles as had closed the motorway.
There are long delays in the area for motorists. It comes as there is gridlock elsewhere in Bristol.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police has said: "Emergency services are at the scene of a four-vehicle collision which has closed the M49 northbound. Police, fire, and ambulance crews were alerted to the incident at about 5.50pm on Thursday 28 November.

"The road is expected to remain closed to enable the emergency response, and to allow for collision investigation, vehicle recovery, and any road repairs."
National Highways said: "The M49 in Gloucestershire is closed northbound between the M5 (J18) and the M4 (J22) due to a serious collision. Emergency services are in attendance including Avon and Somerset Police. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
"Road users are advised to continue on the M5 northbound to J16 and join the M4 westbound and travel to J22 to continue your journey. If this closure affects your journey please allow extra time for your journey, consider alternate routes (if possible)."
