M5 crash: Three injured after multi-vehicle collision closes motorway

Three people suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on the M5 earlier today (Tuesday, May 21). The collision took place on the southbound carriageway at around 8.50am.

Emergency services closed the motorway between junction 24 for Bridgwater and junction 25 for Taunton following the crash. It has since been confirmed that three people were treated for minor injuries.

A picture after the crash shows firefighters and paramedics at the scene. The motorway has since reopened and traffic has returned to normal.

Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called at around 8.50am today (Tuesday 21 May) to the M5 southbound carriageway between junction 24 (Bridgwater) and junction 25 (Taunton) following a report of a multi-vehicle collision."
