M6, M53, M57 and M62 motorway closures starting September 23

Several motorways will be partially closed this week. The motorways, which run through Merseyside, will see closures as part of National Highways' repair programme on the region's roads.

These include the M6 and M57 according to the National Highways journey planning tool. Work is due to start on Monday, September 16 and will impact the motorways for several days.

The motorways running through Merseyside include the M6 between J20 to 26, the M53 between J1 to 10, the M56 between J15 to 11, M57 between J1 to 7, the M58 between M57 (J7) to J3 and the M62 between J4 to 7.

Here are the motorway closures you can expect in this week. This list is subject to changes from National Highways. You are also urged to plan your journey ahead.

Monday, September 23

The M6 southbound will be closed from junctions J23 and J22 between 9pm and 6am from September 23 to September 24.

The M53 southbound will be closed from junctions J9 and J11 between 9pm to 6am from September 23 to September 25.

The M57 northbound will be closed from junctions J6 and J7 between 8pm to 5am from September 23 to September 25.

The M62 westbound will be closed at junction J6 between 8pm and 5pm from September 23 to September 28.

Tuesday, September 24

The M6 southbound will be closed from junctions J23 and J22 between 9pm and 6am from September 23 to September 24.

The M53 southbound will be closed from junctions J9 and J11 between 9pm to 6am from September 23 to September 25.

The M57 northbound will be closed from junctions J6 and J7 between 8pm to 5am from September 23 to September 25.

The M62 westbound will be closed at junction J6 between 8pm and 5pm from September 23 to September 28.

Wednesday, September 25

The M53 southbound will be closed from junctions J9 and J11 between 9pm to 6am from September 23 to September 25.

The M57 northbound will be closed from junctions J6 and J7 between 8pm to 5am from September 23 to September 25.

The M57 northbound will be closed between junctions J6 and J7 from 11.45pm to 6am from September 25 to September 26.

The M62 westbound will be closed at junction J6 between 8pm and 5pm from September 23 to September 28.

Thursday, September 26

The M57 northbound will be closed from junctions J6 and J7 between 11.45pm to 6am from September 25 to September 26.

The M62 westbound will be closed at junction J6 between 8pm and 5pm from September 23 to September 28.

Friday, September 27

The event sparked huge enthusiasm among fans, with Musk promising thhat owners would be able to make money renting out their cars as cabs. “Your average passenger car is only used about 10 hours a week out of 168 hours. So, the vast majority of the time, cars are just doing nothing. But if they're autonomous, they could be used, I don't know, five times more. Maybe 10 times more.”Some observers were more skeptical, however. One shareholder told Reuters he was disappointed by the lack of a clear timeframe for robotaxi services. Other investors noted a lack of detail on how quickly Tesla can ramp up production, and how it can overcome regulatory worries about safety. The Cybercabs rely on AI and cameras to get around, dispensing with the other sensors - like costly lidar - used by rivals like Alphabet’s Waymo. Experts say that approach significantly cuts costs, but also poses huge technical challenges. Musk also has a history of being overoptimistic on timing - and he said as much at Thursday's event.As early as 2019, he was promising to have robotaxis on the streets by the following year.
