M62 diversions latest as firefighters struggle to put out lorry fire near Huddersfield
Diversions have been put in place while a major Yorkshire road remains fully closed after a truck burst into flames.
Motorists on the M62 are now facing delays between junction 23 A640 New Hey Road, Huddersfield to junction 22 A672 Rishworth Moor as a fire continues to engulf a Heavy Goods Vehicle. The blaze was first reported around 10.30am on Friday, November 29.

According to the National Highways website, due to the sawdust loaded on the truck, the fire is 'proving difficult' to fully extinguish as it keeps re-igniting. It said: "There is also substantial drifting smoke from the lorry fire which is affecting both carriageways. It is therefore not safe to allow traffic on the eastbound carriageway to run past the scene."
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew are currently at the scene and the driver is safely out of the truck.
Road users are now told to avoid the area and follow circle diversion symbol on road signs. This is the diversion route planned by National Highways:
Exit at J22 and at the end of the slip road turn left on to the A672
Follow the A672 to the junction with the A58
Continue forward on to the A58
Follow the A58 through Sowerby Bridge and towards Halifax
At the junction with the A646 turn right
Follow the A646 to the junction with the A629
Turn right on to the A629 and continue to Ainley Top and J24 of the M62
Take the second exit from the J24 roundabout to re-join the M62 eastbound
