M62 traffic held as car goes up in flames near Huddersfield
A car caught fire on a major motorway through Yorkshire, halting traffic while firefighters put out the blaze.
The Vauxhall Vectra went up in flames on the M62, near Huddersfield and Ripponden, on the eastbound carriageway between J22 and J23 at about noon today (Saturday, October 19).
There was a 3-mile queue of traffic going towards Huddersfield between the Ripponden and Outlane junction. The fire caused delays in the surrounding roads. Traffic was held between the M62 junctions while firefighters 'dampened down the vehicle,' according to National Highways.
