M8 motorway near Glasgow Airport closed as police rush to ongoing incident

Police dealing with an ongoing incident near Glasgow Airport have closed the M8 westbound.

Traffic Scotland is warning drivers to find an alternative route. Emergency services have shut the road near junction 28.

It is understood that police received reports of concern for a person at around 12.45pm on Wednesday, January 15, near the White Cart Viaduct.

The westbound carriageway is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area and check for an alternative route.

A spokesperson for Traffic Scotland said: "Road CLOSED due to an ongoing police incident.

"Road users are advised to find alternative routes at this time."

As of 3.30pm, the incident has been cleared and the road re-opened.
