M8: West Lothian emergency services race to four-car collision as traffic at standstill

West Lothian drivers have been warned to expect delays following a four-car collision

The busy M8 has been restricted at junction four eastbound near Whitburn after a crash at around 11.20am on November 24.

It is understood police, the fire service and ambulance teams are at the scene.

Drivers are being urged to approach with caution on approach as traffic in the area is coming to standstill.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed to Edinburgh Live they were called to a four-car collision at around 11.17am on Sunday. However the crews left shortly after.

It is currently unknown if there are any injuries.

Images from traffic cameras show huge queues of traffic tailing back for miles along the motorway.

Traffic Scotland alerted drivers: "Eastbound at junction four is currently restricted due to a road traffic incident, motorists are advised to use caution on approach."

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
