Mac & Wild will host 'London's first' silent Ceilidh and a haggis masterclass to celebrate Burns Night

Grab your finest tartan — Burns Night is almost upon us and one London restaurant is lining up the Scotch to celebrate.

Scottish restaurant Mac & Wild is commemorating Robert Burns with a number of evening events at its Fitzrovia and Devonshire Square restaurants, including what they claim is London's first silent Ceilidh.

On Thursday January 24, the day before Burns Night, the Devonshire Square site will offer a haggis masterclass run by the restaurant’s co-founder Andy Waugh. Guests will get the chance to learn how to make the Scottish delicacy while sampling some whiskies.

The following evening, the Devonshire Square venue will also host the silent Ceilidh where, similar to a silent disco, guests will be given headphones to tune into the action. A guest DJ will be mixing Scottish Ceilidh music with modern dance anthems, in a fusion of old and new. While there won't be conventional Ceilidh calls, there will be a plenty of people on hand encouraging traditional dancing, and a number of Scottish treats will also be floating about, including Glenfiddich highballs and haggis.

Both sites will throw Burns Night suppers on January 25, with a four-course tasting menu featuring Highland delicacies including scotch eggs, haggis with neeps and tatties, venison with haggis chops and sticky toffee pudding to finish.
